Ultimate Braai Master

pick n pay, ultimate braai master, justin bonello, renault, castle lager, coca cola, reality TV, south africa, proudly south african, cooked in africa, peter gird, beautiful images, perfect editing, great South African reality cooking show, tami magnin, rumtumtiggsThis show has kept me enthralled for the full 13 weeks it ran on SABC3 at 8pm every Thursday evening and it was such an amazing honour to be invited to their reunion/wrap party last night.

What a great bunch of people! Everyone from Justin Bonello to Martinus and Bertus to CookingSoulNW and GalPower were so incredibly warm, humble and approachable and looking at the pictures I took last night I can’t help but smile.

These are some of the many great people that made this show happen and it is definitely a case of what you see is what you get. After watching and tweeting throughout the series you really feel like you know these people and it was such an honour to bear witness to the friendships formed during the first Ultimate Braai Master. It is very clear that they will all be friends for life.

What South African reality TV needs to learn from this show…Beautiful cinematography, exquisite  editing and judges who are worth their weight in gold to teach, guide and offer constructive criticism that builds people…not breaks them down.

As I said to Peter Gird last night, if you can release a promo with no voice over…just images and music that evokes not only an interest in the show but also makes one proud to live in such a beautiful country, you’ve got it right!
